Vape Coil Maintenance | How long should my coils last?

VAPE COIL MAINTENANCE – WHAT ARE THEY AND HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

Most new vapers have no idea what a vape coil is, let alone what they do or how to maintenance them. Some will vape for weeks or even months using the same coil and complain that their juice has lost its flavor. Or they will begin to feel dissatisfied when they begin getting smaller clouds. Have you ever asked yourself, Coils – What are they and how long do they last? With the right information you can fix these issues. These simple steps allow for easy vape coil maintenance.

WHAT ARE VAPE COILS AND WHAT DO THEY DO?

The vape coil is the device that heats e-liquid and turns it into vapor. Made from resistance wire that when heated will create vapor from e-liquid. The coil also requires a wicking material. Organic cotton is typically used, wire mesh and wood pulp are also sometimes used. The wicking material is what carries the liquid to the coil itself and should always stay saturated while in use.

WHY DO THEY HAVE DIFFERENT OHMS AND WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Ohms, are units of electrical resistance and is how Coils are measured.  The lower the ohms of the device are, the more power they need to use. The difference between the different coils and ohm ratings really depend on the type of vaping experience you’re looking for. Using coils with a lower ohm rating will give you a drier hit that produces larger clouds of vapor. Thus, using these lower ohm coils will require you tank to be refilled more often.  Coils with a higher ohm rating give you less vapor but it will be cooler and you’ll enjoy longer battery life.

VAPE COIL MAINTENANCE:  HOW DO I TELL WHEN A COIL NEEDS CHANGING?

There are several signs that will begin to appear when it’s time for you to change your coil. They all center on your overall vaping experience. If you begin to have a burnt taste while vaping, this is a tell-tale sign that your coil has burned out. Another sign is that the liquid stops tasting the way it usually does. A burnt out or worn down coil may leak as well.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY COIL?

This really is dependent on your vaping style and how often you vape. But in general, if you vape as often as a pack a day smoker smoked cigarettes, a typical coil will last one to two weeks. Some coils, especially ones belonging to larger, state of the art tanks, may be able to function longer between changes. Some vapers vape for a month with their coils before they need to change them. Typically though, these vapers tend to be the ones who are light vapers.

HOW DO YOU PRIME A COIL AND WHY DO YOU DO IT?

To prime a coil, all you need to do is thoroughly saturate the coil head before use. To do this, we recommend dripping several drops of e-liquid into the small holes around the SIDES of the coil itself. If you drip some into the center hole, you may experience a bit of liquid coming out of the mouthpiece. This will not affect you but may not taste great. Once you have done this, install the coil head and fill your tank. To ensure the cotton is completely saturated, let your tank sit for a few minutes. Another good way to ensure complete saturation is to inhale several times without pressing the fire button. This will pull the liquid into the coil.
